Charu Lochan Dass: A Touch of Trinidad

Women who want to feel confident, sophisticated and sensual try to find fashion pieces that bring out their inner femininity and strength. Charu Lochan Dass (CLD), renowned designer’s mission is to bring out these traits in her collections. The CLD Woman is a client who is poised and elegant while embracing her sensuality and feminine appeal.

Born in India, Dass migrated with her family to Trinidad at the age of six. With a love for painting and sketching and a natural instinct for fashion, she dove into her creative talents and began designing. Her first design was at the age of fourteen, inspired by her mother’s hand-woven Indian table runner. Her natural talents improved over the years as she pursued a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at the London College of Fashion. Shortly afterwards, she began her eponymous brand: CLD.

“I’m inspired by emotion, whatever enthralls my soul. From a material to a fashion icon, or even a client.” Dass’s inspiration for her first collection was drawn from the 1960s, particularly icons such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn. Her most recent collection was inspired by “a client with an extraordinary story of sacrifice, courage and love.”

When it comes to weddings or special occasions, Dass favors specific types of fabrics when designing dresses. “Delicate, flowing fabrics thrill me, those that elicit a graceful appeal; chiffon, silks, georgette and lace, especially for weddings.”

CLD encompasses all that is sophisticated and exudes class.  Dass uses the finest materials and intricate detail to produce breathtaking designs that keep the global market in mind. CLD Collections highlight a woman’s silhouette, amplifying her femininity, and adds a “Trini” touch of creativity.

CLD Collections are sold at the CLD Fashion House in Woodbrook, the fashion district of Trinidad and Tobago. They are also available globally at BoutiKm5 in Ibiza, Spain and at the Pop-up shop at World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam. Also available online at nomorefashionvictims.com.
