Makeup Tips and Tricks for Achieving Asian Eyes

Asian eyes are some of the most beautiful features around. At times finding the right method or products for accentuate the eyes may seem daunting. With a few simple tips and tricks, you are sure to have heads turning and eyes on you.

Finding the right brush– all makeup brushes were not created equal. You want to find a brush that is best suited to your eye shape and is going to blend and apply product the way you desire. Smaller brushes work well with Asian eyes because they fit in to the limited eye space and allow for precise application of the eye makeup. Recommended products include the Sigma E55 (shading brush), the E65 (small angled brush), and the E30 (pencil brush)

Create the illusion of deeper eye: You don’t need to a ton of lid space to do a smoky or dramatic eye look. Take a brown eye shadow and place it slightly above your crease (or where you want your crease to be) and blend up and out towards the brow bone. Apply a light shimmery or metallic shade across the lid to make your eyes stand out! Recommended Products: Urban Decay “Secret Service” eyeshadow and Inglot Freedom System eyeshadow in #337

Groom your eyebrows! : Eyebrows are one of the most important (and often neglected) parts of makeup application. Asians are known for having “doll-like’ porcelain skin. Keeping your eyebrows properly groomed adds to that. They also frame the face and add a subtle yet impactful statement on the rest of your look. If you have thin or sparse brow hair, fill them in with a brow product the best matches your brow color and use light hair like strokes for best results. Use a brow gel to keep the brows in place all day. Recommended products include Tweezerman tweezers, Anastasia dipbrow pomade, Anastasia Brow Wiz, and Anastasia clear brow gel.

Use an inner corner and brow bone highlight: By applying a light shimmery or metallic shadow to the inner corner of the eyes creates the illusion of a more open eye. When also applied to the arches of the brows, it lifts your face because the eyes are drawn to the bright spots when people are looking at you. Use caution when applying the light shadow under the brows. You want to place it under the arch and tail of your brow. Going under completely looks unnatural. Cheat bigger eyes: Use a white or flesh toned eyeliner on the lower waterline to create the illusion of a larger eye. This helps the eye makeup stand out and adds an extra pop to your own eyes (we love Rimmel Scandaleyes khol Kajal in nude). Combine with a dark liner just below the white liner on the lash line for an added pop. Curl your lashes for instant lift, apply your favorite mascara, and gently apply false lashes to open the eye up. Recommended products, Velour Lashes “Whispie Sweet Nothings” and Velour Lashes “Whispie me away”.
