Come Back To Jamaica– Part Two–The Modesty Of A Destination Wedding

As we continue with our Jamaica trip we want to share with your more gems. Our time at the wedding expo ended and we prepared for our journey southwest to Negril. Only an hour and 30 mins between the two, I enjoyed the view, riding along the coast observing daily activities from the locals and more of the culture of Jamaica. The closer we got to our destination, I saw less of the ocean and more of country-like surroundings. Unfortunately, when we arrived at Skylark hotel we were greeted with grey-blue skies and rain. Nonetheless, Tavata the special events coordinator at Skylark greeted us with a warm welcome. Rum Punch? Yes, please!

Prior to a tour of the resort, we had lunch at Negril’s very own Miss Lily’s. I am familiar with the NYC location and I must admit, to actually have lunch on the island where its inspiration derives from, was a true gem. Chef Andre Fowles, the culinary ambassador for Miss Lily’s international made it his priority to stuff us like turkeys with his signature dishes. Between eating the food placed before me, my eyes wandered around the restaurant at the lively bright decor and the ocean just steps away. During lunch the owner of Skylark & Rockhouse, Paul Salmon checked in on us to ensure our visit was going well so far. After lunch, Paul & Tavata took us on a tour of the Skylark.

I would like to speak on behalf of anyone looking for a destination wedding while on a budget. Skylark will more than accommodate your needs. This resort is nestled in a tree bush of Negril. Rooms here are subtle and just what you need for your exotic stay. With 28 rooms and about $200 per person this resort can, without a doubt cater to any budgetnista who wants to celebrate her nuptials. This intimate resort still has many essentials that any other larger resort would have. They are undergoing renovations soon to add a pool and more space for special events at this location. Paul Salmon has heard your concerns regarding this issue and has a solution. If the Skylark and its space used for ceremonies are not what you envisioned please ask about RockHouse. Just a drive away from Skylark is the Rockhouse.

Tavata took us to the Skylark Spa, where she handed us off to Linda Hall. Linda is an international spa & wellness consultant. During a tour of the spa, Linda encouraged us to dabble in the essential spa collection, which they use on clients and sell, which are created locally. When exiting this spa, a stressed mind and exhausted body be gone. Alast we visited the gift boutique before leaving, beautiful items for sale which were all handmade locally (IG: @revejewellery).

Rockhouse is a chic boutique hotel that literally gets its name from the cliffs that lie beneath it. Overlooking the Caribbean ocean the Rockhouse has these beautiful thatched-roof cottage villas with stone walls, canopy beds, timber galore, sort of an outdoor shower and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Ahead of my nap, I took a dive from the red ladders that bring you down into the ocean caves and snorkeled around for a bit before exploring the infinity pool.

I had been hearing in MoBay that Negril has the most beautiful sunset in Jamaica, I made sure to keep my eyes open for that. Our farewell dinner was the ultimate end all be all. The dinner table set for 8 was located on one of the lower cliffs with a view of the ocean. You could literally get up from the dinner table and go for a swim in the ocean. The lighting was perfect. Chef Fowles shared with us that his cookbook, will soon be released, so now we wait. The dinner conversation was filled with the knowledge of Negril, Skylark & Rockhouse it was all a total bliss.

There we enjoyed a live DJ playing tunes that declared you to wine. The space was the perfect reception spot. A full bar and bold art surrounding you with the ocean in arms reach, Pushcart was an excellent vibe for the evening. For dessert, we inhaled a cheesecake and a creme brûlée masterpiece.
Gratitude for my villa being so close to Pushcart. I headed back there and nestled in bed. Just in time to get enough rest for my last day in Jamaica.

As the last day in Jamaica arose I sat outside of my villa and inhaled all of what the beautiful island had given me. I couldn’t have asked for more. Before departing Negril, we were awarded the opportunity to take a tour of Rockhouse. The evening prior I found myself exploring the location. So I felt giddy as I learned of new spaces I hadn’t yet come across. I know I’ve discussed spas in Jamaica multiple times but I need you to get into this, Rockhouse spa is focused on restoring the peace within you and it shows when you walk through the spa. It’s evident the feeling of being in Jamaica should be 100% relaxation. Rockhouse allows you to feel that you’re at home in Jamaica. Privacy here is not a problem at all, each villa has its own walk-up with a gate. Currently, there are 34 rooms on the property. Also, they are in the process of building 6 more with an even more remarkable design. There are plenty of activities including yoga overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Just when I thought Rockhouse couldn’t get any better, I learned of their very own Rockhouse Foundation. The foundation has invested millions of dollars into magnifying Jamaica’s education system for children. The things Paul shared with us about the foundation was nothing short of amazing. I encourage you to check it out when you go to book your stay!
