We have to admit, we are all mesmerized by HBO’s The Gilded Age television series. Monday nights, 9pm can’t come fast enough. Whatever device you are using to enjoy this series, we are all fascinated by the storyline, as well as the exquisite costumes that keep us gagging.
As restrictions begin to loosen, everyone that was supposed to have wed in 2020 and 2021 are booking the locations for their weddings now. And if they are watching The Gilded Age, I can’t wait to see the type of extravaganza they will be producing.

I had the honor of conversing with the iconic Gary Lawrance, founder of Gary Lawrence Architect, and Mansions Of The Gilded Age. Mr. Lawrance is a walking historian when it comes to this rich history. You can go on for hours talking to him about the history of the rise of America’s wealthiest families.
His firm, Lawrance Architectural Presentations, provides design presentations, architectural models, digital renderings, and design development services to architects, landscape architects, and interior designers.
Mr. Lawrance has an extensive background in the history of Gilded Age architecture, landscapes, and society, and co-authored the bestselling book, “Houses of the Hamptons 1880-1930” with Anne Surchin (Acanthus Press 2007, Revised 3rd Printing 2013). Lecturing on the lost architecture of the Gilded Age for over twenty years, Mr. Lawrance has curated a symposium on the Gilded Age, held at Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, New York from 2016 thru 2019. Mr. Lawrance is currently working on his next book, “Houses of Palm Beach, 1900-1950”.
Mr. Lawrance’s work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Newsday, New York Social Diary, Southampton Press, and more.
