Blue And Pink Accents Rule At New York Bridal Week— Part 2

How did ballet pink and baby blue become the go-to colors in the bridal world as an alternative to ubiquitous pristine white? It has been trending for a few years and now seems to be surfacing as a solid direction for brides looking for something unique. Maybe the source is rooted in the gender reveals —which could be the next step in a couple’s life journey. Babies are always in style and pink and blue mark a baby’s gender. Whatever the origin, designers are accenting their bridal looks with blue and pink— bows, sashes and belts. Designers like Kelly Faetanini and Ines Di Santo use the palest shades to wash over the entire gowns and give brides options to veer off of the traditional route completely. Sareh Nouri’s incorporated Wedgwood floral print into her Something Blue Collection to a dramatic effect during her April presentation which made for stunning visuals.

There were some color outliers like Badgley Mischka’s finale dress with a spray of electric turquoise 3D florals. The designer from Honor had several red weddings looks with the 60’s vintage edge.

Short and Sassy

Short and sassy dresses have become a long-standing trend with designers filling the demand for several dress changes during the wedding day. Brides want to wear multiple looks during their wedding extravaganza and designers are more than happy accommodate.Nardos, Honor, Theia, Mark Ingram, and Sareh Nouri all joined in the short dress brigade.

Naked Dressing

Being naked is very in and continues to make an impact on the Red Carpet and also on the bridal world. That is, dresses with strategically placed appliques that let the skin peek though for a sensual look.

The Un-wedding dress

From destination weddings to City Hall and micro parties, there are a laundry list of affairs that need just the right dress. Many couples have 2 wedding parties or may have relatives and friends in different parts of the world and for that reason may have several parties. Bridal designers are addressing the variety of weddings with choices for every occasion and personality.

The vintage cool-girl collection, Honor is exactly for the untraditional bride at her unique wedding. Loeffler Randall, just launched a bridal collection of shoes and bags but included several cotton eyelet short dresses which work for affairs where a poufy gown would be weird.

The Classic Wedding Dress

But there was plenty of traditional princess gowns, sleek and slinky column dresses and sexy mermaid looks from designers like Justin Alexander Signature, Badgley Mischka, Sareh Nouri, Mark Ingram, Nardos, Kelly Faetanini and more.
