WBM Series: Discovering America
Hot Springs, Arkansas — A Journey Through History, Hospitality & Hidden Luxury

With a title such as World Bride Magazine, international travel might seem as though it is stealing the spotlight;  we know it is essential to pause and recognize the extraordinary beauty within America’s own borders. The WBM Series: Discovering America was born from this belief—a mission to explore the regions, stories, and people that define the heart of this country. Our latest journey took us to Hot Springs, Arkansas, a historic destination where nature, culture, and Southern hospitality converge to create an unforgettable experience.

Where to Stay

My home for this curated escape was Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, an award-winning sanctuary overlooking Lake Hamilton. Created by world travelers Sam and Nancy, this intimate luxury inn embodies a manifesto of serenity, romance, and wellness. Recognized by TripAdvisor, The Today Show, and Travel + Leisure, Lookout Point sets the standard for Southern hospitality delivered with heart and precision. WBM definitely can confirm they, in fact, have earned their stars honestly. The grounds are definitely beautifully designed, and we are certain they can be booked for a full gathering or wedding.

Another breathtaking property we visited was The Reserve at Hot Springs, a masterfully restored Gilded Age estate. With its cinematic architecture, manicured grounds, and elegant interiors, The Reserve stands as a premier destination for intimate weddings, honeymoons, or family retreats. Breakfast by Executive Chef Nathan McMurry elevates the meaning of refined Southern dining.

Where to Eat

Dining in Hot Springs is a celebration of heritage, innovation, and heartfelt local pride.

J&S Italian Villa, owned by Saddiq and Jeannie Mir, offered one of the most memorable evenings of our trip. Inspired by the coastal cuisine of Cinque Terre, their restaurant blends refined Italian flavors with warm Southern hospitality. Their commitment to community and excellence shines through every plate.

The Ohio Club adds yet another unforgettable layer to Hot Springs’ dining scene. Also owned by Saddiq and Jeannine. As Arkansas’ oldest bar—and a former favorite haunt of notorious gangsters and baseball legends—The Ohio Club offers a lively blend of history, elevated pub cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, and an exceptional lineup of live music. Whether you’re looking for a classic night out, a well-made drink, or entertainment with authentic character, The Ohio Club captures the timeless spirit of Hot Springs nightlife. A local favorite since 1952, Stubby’s BBQ delivers slow-smoked perfection. With nationally recognized meats and signature sauces, it’s a true Hot Springs institution.

For a historic breakfast, The Pancake Shop—serving guests since 1940—invites diners to enjoy classic dishes rooted in Hot Springs tradition.

Superior Bathhouse Brewery & Distillery, the first brewery in the world to use thermal spring water as its base, offers craft beers and a lively menu inside a beautifully repurposed bathhouse. Be sure to do more than drink, learn about the process involved in maintaining the place and crafting such quality beer.  The food that is served at the location is perfectly paired for a wonderful experience.

Deluca’s Pizzeria, widely hailed for having one of the top pizzas in America, is a required stop for lovers of handmade, New York–style pies. As a New Yorker, I can comfortably say this is worth the experience, and the service is equally delightful.
