Upon entering the Whitney Museum of Art, my excitement skyrocketed. I don’t know what was more exciting: the fact that I was about to attend my first ever fashion show or the fact that I was seeing one of my favorite fashion designers – Pamella Roland.
Pamella Roland designs for confident women with exceptional taste – a woman who demands a versatile wardrobe in which she feels polished and impeccable, without forsaking her sensuality. Roland’s mission is to create clothes that allow women to comfortably exude their strength and beauty, with innate elegance.
As the lights dimmed and the music began to play, the first models made their way down the runway strutting Roland’s 2016 Spring Collection. Within this collection, Roland showed a formal lineup including evening rompers, embellished jumpsuits, and sophisticated party dresses in a variety of lengths. Roland’s new line has reached a new level with its glaring elegance and daringly feminine finishes.
This pastel-based collection, while simplistic in its original design, the occasional leather neck piece was a strong, but acceptable contradiction to this otherwise strikingly distinct collection. Other extraordinary looks that appeared to wow the audience were an A-line shift dress with minimal pearl beading on the pockets and a white silk dress with some beading with a surprised train that followed.
As an entrepreneur and designer, Roland plays a major role in every facet of the business, from the creation of each piece to the final say on every shape, fabric, and color. She keeps her customers in mind while designing every single look. “I wear these clothes and can relate to what my customers want from their wardrobes.” Roland’s passion comes from within her desire to promote confidence in women. It’s inspiring to others that her main goal is to give women of all ages a comfortable, poised style to bring them to be their best self.
