My Dream Trip to Taormina Sicily: A Journey Wrapped in Beauty, History & Hospitality

Stepping into Italy—any destination, any region—feels like stepping into paradise. It’s the people, the food, the architecture, the history, the romance we’ve absorbed from films and television. Italy has become my yearly tradition, a promise I make to myself: return, learn, explore, understand, and fall in love all over again. Sicily, however, felt like something deeper. It felt like destiny.

I’ve heard the mixed reviews scattered online—stories of travelers who felt unwelcome or misunderstood. I am grateful that this has never been my experience. My time in Italy has always felt like a warm embrace, and Sicily was no exception. Which is why I feel compelled to share this gem with you. At World Bride Magazine, we seek out not only the glamorous hotel names everyone already knows but the boutique, family-rooted destinations where hospitality feels personal. Villa Belvedere in Taormina is exactly that kind of treasure.

Where History Meets Heart: Villa Belvedere

Family-owned since 1902, Villa Belvedere is preparing to celebrate nearly 125 years of welcoming guests. Its history lives in every corner—from the original architectural details to the modern renovations done with respect for tradition. Terraced gardens spill down toward the sea; bougainvillea and hibiscus dance in the breeze; palm trees frame the sparkling pool like a dream. The air carries the fragrance of lemons and oranges from trees rooted in the earth for generations. My Dream Trip to Sicily: Taormina- A Journey Wrapped in Beauty, History & Hospitality.

From the balconies and terraces, the Mediterranean glitters below and the Bay of Naxos curves in a soft crescent. Mount Etna rises in the distance, dramatic and majestic, reminding you that Sicily is ancient, alive, and deeply spiritual. Inside, the rooms range from charming classic spaces to modern external suites with kitchens, living areas, and private terraces. It’s a place you can stay for a weekend—or settle into like a second home.

Service That Feels Like Family

What sets Villa Belvedere apart is the attentiveness of the staff. They greet you by name, remember your preferences, help with transportation, reservations, or directions—even before you think to ask. Their warmth feels authentic, not rehearsed. It’s hospitality the way it used to be—rooted in humanity, not formality.

Accessible Without a Car

For travelers who prefer not to rent a car, Villa Belvedere is a dream. Public transportation is nearby, taxis and shuttles are easily arranged, and many of Taormina’s treasures are reachable on foot. The cable car, steps to the sea, cafés, boutiques, and historic sites are all close enough to make exploring effortless.

Sicily by Sea

Another highlight was experiencing Sicily by water with Sicily Tour Excursions . The coastline, caves, sunlit cliffs, and sweeping views made it clear why season two of White Lotus chose Sicily—it is cinematic in every sense.

A Taste of Home: Dining at Trattoria da Nino

No dream trip is complete without unforgettable dining, and for me, that moment happened at Trattoria da Nino. Eating there feels like eating at your grandmother’s table—if your grandmother happened to be a Sicilian culinary genius. The menu is an expression of Italian love: generous, heartfelt, and rooted in tradition.

Established over 50 years ago by the Nicita family, Trattoria da Nino is known by locals for genuine Sicilian fare spanning three generations. Co-owners Nino Nicita, with four decades of experience, and his nephew Gianluca, whose eye for modern renovation and wine expertise elevates the space, create the perfect marriage of old and new. The restaurant offers meat, fish, and vegetarian specialties, all sourced locally, with exceptional service and one of the best Sicilian wine lists I’ve encountered.

You can dine in the warm modern dining room, enjoy the panoramic terrace overlooking the northern Sicilian coast and the west coast of Calabria, or reserve a private hall for groups of 6–12 for a special seafood menu with complimentary wines. It is intimate, soulful, and a must when visiting Taormina.

My stay in Sicily was short, but unforgettable. Like all great loves, it isn’t measured in days but in impact. Sicily welcomed me—and I hope, when you visit, it welcomes you home too. Sicily welcomed me. And I hope, when you decide to go, it welcomes you home too.  Contact our WBM Travels Team to help you book your travel and stay in Italy.
