A Brush with Greatness: Honoring Karen Dupiche

In a world where beauty is often only skin deep, Karen Dupiche proves that true artistry and impact run much deeper. As a four-time Emmy Award-winning makeup artist, and might we add, being the first Haitian American for outstanding makeup in 2005 to hold that title—most notably for her work on ABC’s The View—Karen’s magic touch has graced countless celebrities, magazine covers, and red carpets. But beyond her gifted hands is a soul equally luminous, dedicated to lifting others and sharing her journey with grace, faith, and humility.

Spending an afternoon with Karen was nothing short of a privilege. I expected to meet a seasoned professional; what I encountered was a woman deeply rooted in purpose. Born to Haitian parents in Montclair, New Jersey, raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Karen’s work ethic was shaped early by the sacrifices of her family. Though she originally pursued a career in nursing, destiny had other plans—leading her to makeup artistry where she quickly became a respected force.

Her tenure on The View, now over 15 years strong, is only a fraction of her expansive career. From the Oscars to the Emmys, the Tony Awards to MTV, and many other platforms. Karen has painted the faces of Hollywood’s elite while serving as a creative powerhouse for beauty brands and networks alike. Her years as Chief Beauty Officer to Elisabeth Hasselbeck are a testament to the trust and respect she commands in the industry.

But her legacy isn’t just in her accolades. Karen is a beacon of philanthropy, supporting causes from domestic violence awareness to cancer advocacy, and never shying away from sharing her time, talent, and heart with those in need. Her unwavering faith, she says, is the anchor to it all.

As we celebrate the beauty makers behind the scenes, it would be amiss not to include Karen Dupiche—a trailblazer, a giver, and a woman whose beauty radiates from the inside out.
