In fashion and textile designer Zandra Rhodes’s technicolor world, a peaceful night’s sleep should happen in living color. The latest addition to her laundry list of accomplishments is in the world of beds. This colorful British designer partnered with the bespoke bed company, Savoir, which makes fewer than 1000 beds per year, and infused her unique style into upholstered beds.
Let’s face it, we are all spending more time in bed whether it’s for getting zzz’s, eating, working, or snuggling activities. You may have a work desk but that doesn’t stop many of us from working on our bed—it’s just comfier. Because of the amount of time, we spend there, investing in a comfortable mattress and a distinctive bed is a smart move on many levels. For newlyweds, it’s an important shared decision and one worth spending the time researching and investing in.
Savoir has been handcrafting beds since 1905. In 1997 they brought their supreme beds to The Savoy Hotel in London which created a lot of buzz. A comfy bed and a good night’s sleep is a powerful thing for most people.
Ms. Rhodes, like most of the world, has slowed her hectic life down substantially because of the pandemic and is appreciating more reflective time at home like most on planet earth. Although it’s generally thought that white beds and bed linens are the optimum settings for a tranquil sleep, in Zandra’s world, vivid colors and prints are as soothing as pristine white sheets. To that end, her grouping of styles is based on an original lily pattern she created in 1975. The beds range from zany vibrant akin to her personal style to soft and serine variety but both are distinctly Zandra Rhodes
