Just when you thought Miami couldn’t get any sexier, the hotter-than-hot city hosted Miami Swim Week® The Shows, the largest swimwear and resort event in the world. I was lucky enough to attend the glamorous shows and parties hosted at SLS South Beach and W South Beach from July 3-10. Featuring more than 100 veteran and emerging designers, all of Miami was out in full force to see what’s new in swim and resort wear for 2024. Whether you’re taking a honeymoon in Curacao, hosting a destination wedding in Switzerland, or heading to Nashville for a bachelorette party, chances are you are going to need a new swimsuit. Here’s some of the top trends that we spotted:

Sparkles & Sequins

On both swimwear, cover-ups and wraps, all that glittered was gold. Not only does it look glamorous but the look can easily transition from pool to pool party.

High Waistlines

Bikini bottoms had many high waistlines coupled with high leg cuts to make anyone’s legs look long and sexy. Even thong bathing suits went up to a higher waistline.

Brights

Forget boring beige and safe black swim suits. Vibrant colors, patterns and even pastel palettes were all the rage. We are talking hot pink, lime green, bright orange. For prints, we saw tons of jungle and mermaid or sea inspiration.

Sustainable Fabrics

A majority of the designers chose to use fabrics from recycled or upcyled fabric and materials. And let’s not forget about size-inclusivity. Lots of models in healthy shapes and sizes. This made my heart smile!

Peek-A-Boo

Mesh cut outs, crocheted coverups, flirty cut-outs and even lingerie-inspired swimwear felt fun, sexy and confident.

Glamour, Glamour, and More Glamour!

With flowing coverups that looked like ball gowns, textured solid fabrics coupled with statement jewelry, there is one takeaway from this year’s trends in swimwear: No matter where you are or who you are, there is a sun goddess in all of us. (Just don’t forget your sunscreen!)
