While you may have worn white for your wedding, your honeymoon is the perfect opportunity to inject your wardrobe with color and texture, courtesy of stylish basics and fun accessories.
From printed silk scarves that double as poolside cover-ups to chic sunglasses and luxury skincare, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite sustainable, women-owned brands that are perfect for your honeymoon or romantic tropical getaway.
1. Swiminista
When it comes to choosing stylish sustainable swimwear, shopping Swimnista is a no-brainer. In an effort to give women the confidence to celebrate their own bodies while reducing the swim industry’s impact on the planet, SWIMINISTA relies on high-quality fabric made from post-consumer plastics to create sexy, supportive pieces made for movement. Their line has plenty of ultra-comfy and flattering swimwear in gorgeous solids and prints, including a designer collaboration with Christian LaCroix.
These suits are anything but basic. We love the Spirited Cheeky One-Piece, a curve-hugging black suit one piece that features a ruched sash adjustable belt detail. With fully adjustable straps, this suit was in frequent rotation on our last trip to the Caribbean. We’re also fans of the Christian Lacroix For Swiminista: Cheerful One Piece in Manaos Print, an irresistible fruit pattern that feels both vintage and luxuriously modern.
This chic eyewear brand draws its name from the French verb APERÇEVOIR, to perceive. It signifies a flash of insight, a quick glimpse into the way we observe the world around us and draw from it. Drawing on French style, APERCU offers a line of classic silhouettes in a range of colorways, from demure tortoise-shell to playful baby blue.
A pair of chic sunglasses is a honeymoon must – and APERCU has plenty to choose from. Channel 1970’s glam in QUANN or make an elegant, edgy statement in ALYSSA. We also love the OUMAYMA shades which have a detachable gold palm clip accessory for an utterly unique look.
3. Kokolishi
It’s impossible not to fall in love with Kokolishi, a line of gorgeous tropical-inspired silk scarves, jewelry, and tote bags. Designed on the island of Curacao, the pastel-laden line pays homage to local culture and beauty. Think palm trees, flowers, birds, and a gorgeous motif that features a group of women playing a game of dominos. We also love this Collectors Edition UNITY scarf, which celebrates the ABC islands located in the Caribbean.
Wrap them around your neck, shoulders, hair, or fashion them into a variety of garments (you can find a plethora of tutorials on their Instagram page).
3. Revtown
A warm weather essential, if you’re on the hunt for the perfect pair of denim shorts, look no further than the Saturday Short from Revtown. These ultra-comfy denim shorts can easily be dressed up or down (pro tip: try pairing them with a Kokolishi scarf tied as a top).
Not only do these denim shorts fit like a dream, they’re also sustainably made. Committed to clean denim manufacturing practices and restrictions, 100% of Revtown’s waste is recycled into denim yarn or insulation for local housing. Revtown’s denim is also sustainably dyed using shrimp shells, orange peels, and nutshells. This process uses 30% less energy, 50% less water, and 70% less chemicals than traditional dyeing techniques across the industry.
5. Kambiio
Lastly, if you’re planning a trip to a sun destination, revitalizing skincare is a must. Kambiio is a Black-owned skincare brand that uses luxurious African botanicals to create a glow from the inside out. Launched in 2021, their small but mighty product line contains high-end functional ingredients with valuable bioactive compounds. Their oil-based serums are suitable for all skin types; while offering specific transformation for mature, sensitive, and stressed complexions.
Their EXCEL Radiance Serum is designed to revive dry, lackluster skin, giving it a lovely radiance thanks to nutrient-rich botanicals like Marula, Plum, Camelia, and Carrot seed. This luxurious antioxidant blend locks in moisture and promotes skin elasticity and resilience against free radicals.
We’re also fans of their DREAMER Refining Serum which contains potent plant botanicals like Baobab, Kalahari, Evening Primrose, Black Cumin, and Willow Bark to refine skin tone and texture. It also protects the skin moisture barrier and improves skin fatigue caused by congestion from environmental stressors.
