Stéphane Rolland’s Spring Summer 2023 Couture Collection was one of the most beautiful designs that caught my attention and heart. He took me to an imaginary world of sophistication, luxury, creativity, art, royalty, and nature.

He showed a highly sculptural collection. Rolland achieved great success with caftans lately when he drew up a small collection of men that showed his admiration for Arab civilization.

It is also known that his mother was working at Pictorial Service, one of the most famous Parisian photographic studios, and he grew up surrounded by black and white photographs. That is why most of his designs were black and white like he said:

“Everything was black-and-white; everything was about volume and contrast. My eyes were trained early on with these concepts; everything I do is about contrast, volume, and movement. It’s in my DNA”. Stéphane Rolland charmed me with his solid sculptural collection, which was rooted in Brazil and featured large jewelry pieces, such as bracelets and earrings, in metal, sculpted wood, and gemstones emeralds, jade, and malachite, that were worn with many looks. He presented the collection in three parts:

The first section is about Rio in the 70s architecture and the modernity of the structure. The second section refers to Brazil’s Amazonian roots and the Indigenous people from the rainforest. The sculptures on the dresses in a lacquered and solid form were accompanied by many new techniques where everything was 3D. The final section goes back to more history of the conquering of Brazil. Their gold and treasures are what inspired the splendor of the church in Bahia.

Also, He created large jewelry pieces, such as bracelets and earrings, in metal, sculpted wood, and gemstones, including emeralds, jade, and malachite, that were worn with many looks.

I will conclude with Stéphane Rolland’s words: “Every single detail is very precious.” Much like a bride-to-be’s wedding planning up until the very day, every single moment, detail, and experience is precious.
