Chanel has debuted its newest beauty collection for fall-winter 2023 titled Equinoxe De Chanel. The new collection is a celebration of the changing of seasons—leaning into autumnal shades of orange, red, purple, and ochre to tell their story. Chanel is also using texture-play in the collection to add interest and dimension. For instance, their new loose eye pigments provide a satiny, velvety texture for the lids, while the glossy and ultra-hydrating lip colors give the lips a sparkling luster. Let’s look at some of the items I was able to get my hands on.

NAILS

Le Vernis Nail Colour 163 — Été Indien

Été Indien means “Indian summer” in French, which is a short, warm, dry period of weather that occurs during autumn. This bright orange shade can be applied in a sheer wash, or built up in layers to a semi-transparent glaze.

Le Vernis Nail Colour 165 — Bois Des Îles

Bois Des Îles translates to “island wood,” sharing its name with a Chanel fragrance of the same title (and described as the first woody fragrance for women). This is an opaque reddish-brown shade that gives complete coverage in 1 layer.

EYES

Ombre Première Libre Loose Eyeshadow 402 — Sycomore

Sycomore is a muted champagne pink color that has a pearlescent glow.

Ombre Première Libre Loose Eyeshadow 406 — Cèdre Cuivré

This shade is a metallic, rusty-orange color with a slight sheen.

Ombre Première Libre Loose Eyeshadow 412 — Bois D’Amarante

An intense, velvety plum-purple with a very slight iridescence.

USAGE TIPS: Working with loose eyeshadows can have a learning curve. It’s best to work eyes-first when using this product. Applying before you have put on foundation and powder will allow you to clean up any fallout that may occur. Lightly dab the applicator in a tissue before applying to your eyes. This will help prevent excess product from falling onto your face.
