At the Nobu Hotel in Miami, Guerdy Abraira is the embodiment of grace and glamour as she prepares for her feature in World Bride Magazine’s Holiday & Engagement issue. Draped in elegant couture her radiant smile and magnetic presence reveal nothing of the challenges she’s faced this past year. Instead, the Real Housewives of Miami star and award-winning wedding planner embraces the moment, offering an inspiring glimpse into her life, love, and resilience.

Over the last year, Guerdy faced one of her greatest challenges: a battle with breast cancer. The journey has been life-altering, teaching her profound lessons about self-care, gratitude, and strength. “Cancer has a way of stripping things down to what truly matters—it reminded me to put my health first and live in each moment,” she shares. This chapter of her life, which she lovingly refers to as “Guerdy 2.0,” is marked by resilience and a renewed focus on what truly counts.

Facing cancer while balancing her thriving career and family life wasn’t easy, but Guerdy found motivation in her loved ones. “My sons and my husband became my light on the darkest days,” she says. Seeing their smiles and pride reminded her to persevere. Russell, her high school sweetheart and unwavering partner, has been a constant source of support.

Their bond, forged through decades of partnership, has only grown stronger through adversity. “Russell is my rock—he lets me be myself fully, without judgment,” Guerdy says. Their philosophy for marriage is simple: teamwork and commitment. “It’s not always perfect, but it’s real, and we’re in it together no matter what,” she shares. Together, they’ve raised a family and built successful careers while maintaining the deep connection that first brought them together as teenagers.

For Guerdy and Russell, the holidays are sacred—a time to slow down and cherish family traditions. One of their favorites is working on a giant puzzle on New Year’s Eve, a symbol of their unity and resilience. “It’s simple but meaningful,” she says, “and it’s a reminder of the strength we have as a family.”

When it comes to entertaining, Guerdy is an expert. Her signature style blends cozy, nature-inspired decor with touches of glam. “Think lush greenery, candles, and gold accents for a hint of sparkle,” she advises. Above all, she focuses on making her guests feel welcome and celebrated. “Pay attention to the details—a signature drink, handwritten place cards, or a curated playlist can elevate any gathering.”

Living in Miami fuels Guerdy’s creativity as a wedding and event planner. “Miami is a feast for the senses—the colors, the culture, the constant hum of life,” she explains. The city’s energy inspires her to incorporate bold designs, vibrant color palettes, and a tropical elegance into her work.

Her Haitian heritage also plays a role in her creative vision, especially during the holiday season. From traditional dishes to music that evokes memories of home, Guerdy infuses her celebrations with personal touches that reflect her roots. “It’s these moments that bring comfort and joy,” she says, emphasizing the importance of celebrating family and culture.

As she looks ahead, Guerdy is excited about new projects and partnerships that align with her passions. She recently became a stakeholder in Ring My Belle, an on-demand beauty service, and partnered with Miami Alkaline Water to promote health and wellness. “These ventures reflect my commitment to creativity, self-care, and quality,” she says.

“Lean into your support system and celebrate in ways that feel good to you.”

She’s also dedicating time to breast cancer advocacy, particularly for Black women who face unique challenges in healthcare. “This new chapter is about purpose and passion,” she shares. “I know the best is yet to come.”

Through it all, Guerdy remains committed to living with gratitude and embracing life’s simple joys. Her advice to those facing health challenges is heartfelt: “Lean into your support system and celebrate in ways that feel good to you. Remember, the holidays are about connection, not perfection.”

As she graces the pages of World Bride Magazine, Guerdy Abraira inspires us all to celebrate resilience, love deeply, and find beauty in every moment. Her journey is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, life’s most precious gifts are the connections we nurture and the memories we create.
