Where & How Did You Meet?

We met at our place of employment, where we really did not speak unless it pertained to the job. We were both in a relationship at that time and not entertaining other people personally. Years later, Anthony retired in May 2020, and I, Teshia, retired in May 2021. A chance encounter in Brooklyn brought us together. The talk was brief because Anthony was working at the time; he did not ask for my number at that moment. Anthony expressed that it was great seeing me again. He also said he felt that he was leaving something special behind, but he really could not put his feelings or thoughts together at the moment.

After he got off work, he reached out to a mutual coworker who had my number and asked him to pass his number along to me so I could give him a call. I gave him a call that afternoon while I was waiting for my car to be repaired. We spoke briefly, and he asked if we could meet for a quick chat. What were the odds we only lived three minutes away from one another? It was so intriguing. He wasted no time when he saw me and asked what my status was, whether I was single or in a relationship. I told him I was not in a relationship.

Anthony always says everything after that was a blur to him because we did not even go on a date at first. I remember meeting him and just sitting in the car, talking for hours about our lives, and going for long walks in the park. Eventually, we learned we had so many things in common, such as living in the same building in Coney Island as adults and living on Cambridge Place across the street from one another. Our children attended P.A.L. Quincy Day Care at the same time, but we never crossed paths until we worked together. We both feel it was all about God’s timing.

During our many conversations, he informed me he was married before and was totally against getting married again because he was traumatized. He was upfront and honest about it. Over the course of time, we dated, and on August 30, 2021, we made it official. He is a loving, caring, and protective person, and Anthony says my strong character, peaceful demeanor, and supportive nature crumbled barriers he thought would never be broken. The proposal came in December 2024, and eight months later, on August 30, 2025, we became Mr. and Mrs. Sloly.

Where Did You Get Married & Why Did You Pick That Location?

We got married at Terrace on the Park in Flushing, Queens. We chose Terrace on the Park because of its elegant look, the location, and the parking, just to name a few reasons. Once we saw the layout and the chapel, I knew there was so much that could be done to pull off an elegant wedding.

What Was The Most Important Thing To Each Of You When Planning Your Wedding?

The most important thing for us was to work together toward a shared vision of our new forever. We also wanted to create many memories for our family and friends and to experience the love we have for one another. Anthony really wanted our wedding to be more about me because he was married before. This is his second marriage and my first.

Anthony: “Loving her the way I do and being a traditional man and father of two daughters myself, I wanted her parents to be able to see their daughter walk down the aisle and her father to be able to give her away. That was very important to me.”

I want this union between myself and my best friend to consist of loyalty, love, patience, respect, trust, commitment, affection, and the ability to compromise.

What Does Family Mean To You?

Family to me is unconditional love. Being family is sharing special moments and connections with one another, a bond that celebrates life’s moments together.
