SPRING BRIDAL BEAUTY TRENDS

What visions come to mind when you think of Spring? Is it blooming flowers, perfectly warm weather or finally a chance to wear that new flowy cotton dress? As a makeup artist and beauty expert I always think of Spring in terms of fabulous makeup colors and with the new beauty trends for Spring ‘18 I’m not disappointed and neither will you be. There are universal bursts of blossoming hues for everyone! If you’re going to be a Spring bride, traditional bridal makeup can look a bit somber and severe so try new bright and bold looks this season for a fresh approach to bridal beauty.

The classic idea of the “blushing bride” gets a real kick this Spring with pops of pink powder blush swirled onto the cheeks. Pink looks amazing on every skin tone and it’s easier than you think to choose the correct shade. If you have lighter or fair skin choose cotton candy or peony pinks. If you have medium to mocha skin a rose-pink blush is right for you. If your complexion is mahogany to ebony a hot pink or fuscia pink will look stunning. My favorite trick is to use a large fluffy powder brush to apply the blush. Just smile big and lightly sweep the blush onto the apples of the cheeks and back to the hairline for a flawless flush.

Lips get all the fun this year with just about every bright color imaginable out there and the best part is they come in so many formulas. If you choose to go bold an opaque lipstick is your best bet but if you tend to be a little more subdued then go for a sheer lip product in a bold hue. I’m loving the Spring lippie shades in tangerine, watermelon, poppy, coral and reds to play up your pretty pout.

Want a new twist on an old favorite? Play with teal colored eyeshadows on your big day instead of traditional neutrals. Choosing a pop of aqua blue color to define your eyes will give you a more on-trend Mermaid Goddess gaze. If you are brave use a true turquoise eyeliner and if you want to keep it a little subtler with just a nod to the trends then use a dark navy-blue eyeliner and add just a tiny touch of shimmering aqua shadow on the lids. Keep the rest of your makeup natural to balance the face.
