Journey on the Open Oceans With the Regal Princess Cruises

Star Princess

To the uninitiated, cruises might seem like a fairly expensive or inconvenient option when it comes to your next vacation. To be fair, there’s certainly a lot of freedom that comes with a traditional road trip or all-inclusive stay in Mexico or the Caribbean. But in many ways, embarking on a seafaring voyage aboard any one of the many cruise lines in the industry might lead to an unforgettable vacation straight out of your wildest dreams.

Providing visitors ready access to room, board, and plenty of fabulous dining options, all the while experiencing some of the most colorful destinations imaginable, cruising itself might very well cater to every prospective traveler who steps on board.

Why Cruise At All?

Admittedly, I’m something of a late convert to the cruise industry and all its wondrous possibilities. I went on my first voyage out of New York with Royal Caribbean back in 2022 when I was just 23.

At the time, I had always wondered about the world of cruising, having watched enough Pirates of the Caribbean and other related media to foster a deep-seated interest in ocean-based travel. Only through my initial experience through Royal Caribbean was I able to fully realize the sheer convenience, accessibility, and – to be quite honest – the utmost brilliance of traveling aboard a cruise ship.

In terms of cost, most cruises are a comparative bargain when you factor in how much you typically spend on an ordinary vacation. Fortunately, most cruise lines include an extensive lineup of amenities that come with upfront booking fees, such as the cost of your state room, unlimited dining, and actual travel costs to and from your chosen ports. Some cruise lines might even include other tie-in features as part of your total package, like airfare to any ships traveling outside your closest port.

In theory, all of this alone is reason enough to book a cruise. Aside from that, of course, there’s also the opportunity to visit any cruise destination listed on your itinerary. Sure, you might pay a little more to book an excursion of some kind through your cruise company. But at the end of the day, what other vacation will allow you to zipline through the jungles of the Dominican Republic; taste fresh coffee in Puerto Rico; drink authentic Rum Swizzlers in Bermuda; or simply lay back and enjoy a sun-soaked beach in Turks & Caicos – all within the span of a few short days!

Choosing the Perfect Cruise Line For You

All this being said, I would encourage anyone interested in booking their cruise to remain diligent and do a little bit of research ahead of time. However, I will go ahead and throw in one suggestion for the perfect first-cruise opportunity. More recently, I managed to leave on a seven-day cruise aboard Princess Cruise’s just-launched Star Princess

An ideally-sized ship that offers a great balance between a laidback atmosphere, creative dining options, and plenty of rotating entertainment activities, Princess Cruise may very well be the best kept secret on the open ocean. At dinner one night, I struck up a conversation with a young couple celebrating their second wedding anniversary. Speaking with them, they revealed that this was their 26th cruise, albeit their first with Princess.

“We’ve only traveled with Norwegian before, which is for sure a great cruise line,” the husband remarked. “But now? Honestly, Princess might be our new go-to. So far, I’m really impressed with the entire ship.”

At the end of the voyage, waddling back on shore after a week of excellent specialty dining, my head still reeling from the constantly flowing Mojitos and refreshing Caribbean sun, I was inclined to agree. Princess Cruises, I can’t wait until next time!
