Elissar Bridal – New York Bridal Fashion Week

Some design houses arrive with a biography before the first gown ever takes the floor. Elissar Bridal is one of them. Named for Elissar, the legendary Phoenician queen known also as Dido, the woman who built Carthage from grief and refused to surrender her heart to anyone but her eternal soulmate, the brand arrives already telling you exactly who its bride is. Modern. Deeply romantic. Willing to break with tradition, but never with what moves her.

The Loft

The presentation occupied a sun-drenched midtown loft, the city skyline pressing in behind racks of ivory, white, and textured bridal looks that transformed the space into something closer to a cozy salon than a fashion week showcase. Three distinct sections anchored the room, each designer given the air to breathe and be discovered.

Creative Vision of Evara and Femmora

Jenna, the lead designer and director of the bespoke design house, is the kind of creative force you feel before you find her. The Spring Summer 2027 gowns are cutting edge without apology: asymmetrical corset pleating, fit-and-flare silhouettes with classic sweetheart décolletage, and vintage inspired details that should be included in every bridal rulebook ever written. Baby sequins, crystals, and dripping pearls adorn her pieces with a restrained hand. Both the Elaine and Estelle gowns feature nude lace at the princess and full back panels. The effect is striking; feminine without being fragile.

Future of Femininity

Amyléa is the third capsule by Amy Kalinowski. She brings a purer, almost devotional intentionality to her work. Her high-waisted corseted princess gowns and delicate Chantilly lace looks speak directly to the romantic bride still orbiting her fairytale. Stretch satins flatter silhouettes, and drape models with the ease of a second skin. The gowns, Antonia and Claudia’s detachable details offer one gown two lives: sacred enough for the ceremony, free enough for the celebration that follows.

Treasure of the Past

Jenna, who clearly sees and honors the creative gifts in others, invited Monty Durham, Fashion Director and Image Consultant of the acclaimed show ‘Say Yes To The Dress Atlanta’, to contribute his own vision to the collection. When I approached him, he was pouring champagne for a guest. He did not miss a beat. His philosophy, he told me, is rooted in the past. And you feel it.

His gowns pay quiet homage to the First Ladies of this nation: the longline pointed corset over a tightly gathered full skirt, the voluminous pleated ballgown with a fitted satin bodice, and one duchess satin piece finished with a tuxedo lapel and an open back that stunned. My personal favorite was his ‘Belle’ gown; plunging V-neck button-front corset gown with exaggerated sheer puff sleeves. Romance and structure, held together with extraordinary respect. Monty closed his showing with a tribute to the ‘little black dress’; his black bridal gown amusingly named ‘Mickey’ is a statement without a single word spoken.

Honoring Every Woman

Actress Rachel Leigh Cook opened the presentation with a quote from the character she plays in the film “She’s All That”: the dress does not change who you are, but it does mark the moment a beautiful new chapter begins. A clever reenactment of that iconic ‘trip scene’, had the audience convinced the model actually tripped into the young man’s arms.

Every gown in that room was designed not to transform a woman, but to honor the one she already is. This aligns with Elissar’s mission of creating distinctive, feminine, and elevated pieces that allow brides to step into the most confident version of themselves.
