As we celebrate 20 years of World Bride Magazine, rooted in New York, we are reminded that sometimes the most extraordinary destinations are the ones just beyond the skyline. Living and working in Manhattan, it’s easy to believe the city holds everything we need. Yet just one hour away, across rolling hills and open farmland, lies a hidden gem that feels worlds apart: Pendry Natirar in Peapack-Gladstone, New Jersey.
From the moment you arrive, the estate feels like stepping into a modern-day fairy tale. A beautifully restored 1912 mansion rises gracefully above lush countryside, blending pastoral serenity with refined luxury. The property’s layered history is part of its magic. Built for the Ladd family, later used as a women’s convalescent facility, owned by King Hassan II of Morocco, and eventually preserved by Somerset County, the estate has evolved gracefully over more than a century. After years of thoughtful restoration, Pendry Natirar officially opened in October 2024, honoring original limestone foyers, stone fireplaces, ornate plaster ceilings, and rich wood paneling while introducing contemporary elegance.
The 68 guest rooms, including 21 suites, feel like private countryside residences, offering warm interiors, premium linens, and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. It’s the perfect escape for couples who want proximity to New York without the stress of travel.

Dining is a true highlight. Rooted in seasonality and local harvests, the resort’s culinary program celebrates farm-to-table excellence, much of it sourced directly from the estate’s own farm. My cider tasting and paired dinner with Burnt Mills Cider in The Gallery was an elevated countryside experience—six thoughtfully selected ciders paired with a chef-curated seasonal menu, ending with a bright citrus-forward dessert. Afternoon tea at The Parlour offered another memorable moment, with porcelain teapots, delicate pastries, savory bites, and an elegant tea cocktail in a refined setting.

Spa Pendry is a sanctuary unto itself, featuring eucalyptus steam rooms, Himalayan salt rooms, plunge pools, and treatments designed to restore body and mind. Outdoor adventures, cooking classes, fly fishing, farm tours, and even complimentary Cadillac vehicles for guest use round out the experience.

For weddings and celebrations, the possibilities are breathtaking—from the 4,638-square-foot Grand Ballroom to terrace ceremonies overlooking rolling hills, to intimate dinners at Ninety Acres.

Pendry Natirar is proof that you don’t have to travel far to live beautifully. Sometimes, the fairy tale is right next door.
