When approaching fashion for a photo shoot, understanding the location is essential from the outset. For this story, the newly reopened and historic Waldorf Astoria provided a breathtaking backdrop—there is truly nothing like it. Its grandeur called for bridal looks that were equally commanding: voluminous, exquisitely constructed, and rich in detail.
In my approach to styling a fashion editorial, I aim to balance three distinct perspectives to both inform and inspire the viewer: the traditional, the unexpected, and the emerging. This interplay keeps the narrative fresh while honoring the design within the bridal market.. Designers are always eager to be featured in the pages of World Bride Magazine, and for this story, I had an embarrassment of riches when selecting the final looks.
Accessories were handled with intention and restraint. These gowns are inherently elaborate, requiring only subtle enhancement. Still, the right finishing touches—a perfectly chosen shoe, bag, or piece of jewelry—can strike the right note and bring the entire look into focus. For this feature, I included Jimmy Choo shoes and bags, the refined Italian footwear label Scarosso, and the timeless, always-relevant jewelry of Ben-Amun. I also introduced my newly launched bridal bag collection, Child of the Universe, pairing one of the designs with a French lace Jacelyn Whyte mini dress.
Once the gowns arrive and accessories are carefully assembled, the process becomes highly collaborative. We begin with a morning fitting alongside hair and makeup, followed by a walkthrough of the hotel with the photographer and producer to map out each look. From there, the story unfolds organically—each setting informing the next frame.
I hope you enjoy the results of this inspiring fashion feature at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on New York’s Park Avenue.
